2017 Chevy Bolt in the flesh at CES (pictures)

This is the 2017 Chevrolet Bolt, a low-cost, all-electric compact car.

The Bolt is expected to cost under $30,000 after a $7,500 federal tax rebate, and impressively, will offer 200 miles of range.

Perhaps the biggest story is that it looks more or less like a traditional car.

It's also as practical and easy to drive as a standard EV, a long way from a lot of electric choices on the market.

Don't be put off by the crude lights, they're pre-production items that pass DOT regulations.

Pop the hatch and there's plenty of room, plus 60/40 split rear seats.
