2018 Porsche 911 GT3 returns with a manual for driving purists

For 2018, Porsche will offer the 911 GT3 with both a seven-dual-clutch sequential manual and six-speed manual.

A 4.0-liter boxer six-cylinder making 500 horsepower and 338 pound-feet of torque powers the new GT3. 

The new engine represents a 25 horsepower and 15 pound-feet increase over its predecessor. 

The naturally aspirated engine features a 9,000 rpm redline.

With the dual-clutch gearbox, the GT3 can hit 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and features a top speed of 197 mph. 

GT3s with the manual need 3.8 seconds to hit 60 mph, but have a slightly higher 198 mph top speed compared to dual-clutch cars.

For handling, the GT3 comes standard with the Porsche Active Suspension Management system and rear axle steering.

Aero improvements include slightly higher carbon fiber rear wing, front and rear fascias and rear underbody diffusor to help increase downforce by 20 percent.

The 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 wears a base price of $144,650, which includes $1,050 for destination fees.

The car will begin arriving in dealers this fall.
