2019 Acura RDX debuting in Detroit with sharp new looks, tech

The 2019 RDX adopts the styling language pioneered by Acura's Precision Concept from the 2016 Detroit Auto Show.

The RDX rides on a new platform that features a 1.2-inch wider track and a 2.5-inch longer wheelbase for a roomier cabin.

The new RDX will continue to be built in East Liberty, Ohio.

The new RDX is longer and has more cabin space, yet it is powered by a downsized turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

Acura calls the RDX's rear fixtures "Dragonfly" taillamps.

Material choices inside the cabin seem to be a cut above the outgoing RDX, and there's an entirely new control layout.

Acura's True Touchpad infotainment interface may take some getting used to, but it does seem much more intuitive than Lexus' Remote Touch interface.

An all-new dashboard is topped with a 10.2-inch screen that's powered by a new Android operating system.

The RDX's profile looks much more dynamic, with a stylishly raked rear window, floating rear pillar and sculpted sheetmetal.

The RDX's front end is dominated by Acura's new "diamond pentagon" grille, which was previewed on the update RLX sedan.

A new version of Acura's torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive will be available.

That big silver knob is actually a drive mode toggle, and it sits just ahead of a new pushbutton-style gear selector.

Acura's new infotainment system relies on this True Touchpad as its main interface.
