2019 Nissan Maxima: The four-door sports car gets updated

Originally launched for 2016, the eighth-generation Nissan Maxima receives freshened looks and tech features for the 2019 model year.

The rear exterior of the Maxima sports new light housings and bumper with quad exhaust outlets. A new spoiler also dressed the trunk on sportier SR versions.

Up front, a more pronounced V-motion grille and new bumper are installed. For 2019, LED headlights also become standard.

A new Sunset Drift Chromaflare paint job is also a new paint option for the 2019 model year. 

The cabin of the Maxima SR now features diamond-quilted Alcantara seat inserts and a charcoal headliner.

Two USB Type-C outlets are now included with the NissanConnect infotainment system. One is located at the base of the center stack along with a USB Type-A port. Another is located on the back of the center console for rear passengers to charge smart devices.

NissanConnect in the Maxima SR features an 8-inch touchscreen to control standard navigation, 11-speaker Bose audio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The drivetrain is unchanged from before with a 3.5-liter V6 delivering 300 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque.

The engine gets mated to a continuously variable transmission. Together the pair returns an EPA estimated 20 miles per gallon in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

The 2019 Nissan Maxima starts at $34,845, which includes $895 for destination.
