Honda gives us the hatch we've always wanted (pictures)

Let's hear it for the hatch. The Honda Civic hatchback prototype is pretty aggressive, especially in the rear, but we expect the production vehicle to remain true to this iteration.

A rear diffuser and dual, center-mounted exhaust pipes hint at the sporty quality of the hatchback.

The C-shaped taillights from the sedan are also on the hatchback.

The rear glass looks to eat into cargo space, but keeps headroom clear for rear passengers.

Lime green calipers make you stop faster, right?

The lime green motif in the trim continues with brightly colored fog lights.

Large air intakes indicate we'll probably see a turbocharged hatchback in the future.

The hatch keeps a sporty look without screaming, "VTEC just kicked in, yo."

We'll more than likely get the same engine options as currently offered in the sedan, a 1.5-liter turbo or a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter.

From some angles, the hatchback looks a little like the Crosstour. But just a little.
