2019 Kia Ceed is a super-slick thriftster

The Ceed used to be called the C'eed, but apparently Kia got tired of the extra punctuation.

It may not be the flashiest debut at Geneva, but in terms of sales volume, it's one of the show's biggest.

Buyers can choose from either a 1.0-liter turbo or several 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engines or a new 1.6-liter diesel.

Every powerplant comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but 1.4-liter engines can be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The Ceed's interior isn't overly luxe but seems like a nice place to be.

Here's hoping the seats are as comfy and supportive over the long haul as they look.

The Ceed's new platform employs independent suspension at all four corners.

The Ceed hatchback strikes a nice look, and we like the headlamp detailing.

The Ceed is even available with a heated windshield, an unusually premium feature in this segment.

An optional Eco Pack includes an Active Air Flap, which adjusts itself based on the engine's cooling requirements. 

The Eco Pack also features an underbody tray and lowered suspension, as well as low-rolling-resistance tires.  

It doesn't look like this model is so equipped.

We wouldn't mind having this wagon version Stateside.

The cabin gets a pretty comprehensive revamp, with nicer-quality materials and newer infotainment tech.

The new Ceed should look even more at home on the street.
